“Dear Dr. Paraskevas,

Hello! I hope that this email finds you well. You might not remember me, but I was one of the students you helped with essays at the Broadway Coffee young writers’ event in Salem. I wrote about my family situation through the framework of cooking a meal for my siblings.

I wanted to thank you for the insights and help you provided. Though I went through MANY edits (eventually coming up with this very personal and emotional essay), the things you taught me about parallelism and imagery really stuck and helped me to become a better narrative writer. I’ll be attending Stanford next year to study political science and I genuinely believe this would not be possible without having learned what you taught me.
